Editorial Methodology
How we source, verify, and maintain the content on nojetlag.io
Last reviewed: August 2026
nojetlag.io publishes practical guidance on jet lag and circadian adaptation. We are not a medical publication and we do not provide medical advice. Because our topic touches on sleep, supplements, and wellbeing, we hold our content to a documented sourcing standard. This page explains that standard, so you can judge our work for yourself.
What we cite — and what we don't
Every scientific claim on this site is grounded in primary, peer-reviewed literature. In order of preference, we rely on: systematic reviews and meta-analyses (Cochrane reviews above all), randomized controlled trials, peer-reviewed observational studies, and formal clinical guidelines. Each article links directly to the original paper via its DOI or PubMed record, and closes with a Sources section listing every study cited.
We do not cite press releases, content aggregators, other blogs, or studies we could not access and read. If the evidence on a question is weak or mixed, we say so in the text rather than overstating it. Where a claim on our site cannot yet be tied to a verifiable source, our policy is to remove or rewrite it — not to defend it.
How our plans are built
Our jet lag plans apply established chronobiology principles — direction and magnitude of time-zone shift, timed light exposure and avoidance, and gradual sleep-schedule adjustment — drawn from the same body of research cited across our articles. Plans are informational schedules, not prescriptions. They do not account for your medical history, medications, or health conditions. Before using melatonin or changing any medication schedule, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Who writes this site
nojetlag.io is written and maintained by its founding team: travelers and engineers who build the planning tool and review the research behind it. We do not have a medical reviewer on staff, and we will never invent one. Our accountability mechanism is transparency instead: verifiable citations, dated reviews, and this methodology page. Content is published under the responsibility of nojetlag.io as an organization.
How content stays current
Each article and route guide displays a "sources last reviewed" date. We re-check core articles against the literature at least once a year, and sooner when a significant new study or guideline appears. Route pages are additionally reviewed for practical accuracy — schedules, airport services, seasonal time changes — with the date shown on the page.
Affiliate links and independence
Some pages contain affiliate links, always labeled as such, from which we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Our rules: recommendations are written before monetization is considered; product claims never exceed what the cited evidence supports; and no manufacturer or service pays for placement or reviews our content before publication. Advertising never influences what the science sections say.
Corrections
